"I approached Charley in early July to complete an unusual commission, a sculpture to accompany my recent publication of a book of octopus poetry. Charley's enthusiasm and originality were apparent right from the beginning of the project. The ideas she presented to me made excellent use of a range of materials whilst creatively tackling the need for the piece to be portable and adaptable. Though she kept in frequent and regular contact, her skill and imagination meant that she worked with complete independence, needing very little in terms of instruction from me and bringing her own unique and wonderful perspective to the work. What she produced is a thoroughly unusual, beautifully inventive and skillfully crafted work in multiple pieces, using wire and maquette. Her sculptures are full of life and character, presenting a perfect visual for the book. I cannot fully express how delighted I am with the final result, and am already thinking up excuses and projects for working with Charley again!"
